Since it was completely out, not just dimmed, I think it would be the light, not the dimmer system. At first, it was intermittent, but the next day it was gone. (Not bad, I guess, since it wasn't covered and could've cost $600.)Īnyway, the the issue was that, after having time to dry out with the power off, and after blowing out the ports to help it along a little, the back light stopped working. Either way, the fine folks at the Apple store declared it abuse and told me it wasn't covered (unlike the salesman who sold me the extra care package- not Apple's fault, but BAD salesman!) So, replaced the phone for $200. Of course, my experience tells me these sensors are not all that reliable anyway, turning red in high (but normal weather-type, not artificial) humidity or not turning red when wet. I wish I saw this LAST week! I had a minor spillage and, somehow, it hit both liquid sensors (one in the top, one in the bottom).
